Health support for 5-11 year olds
If you're aged 5-11 years old, there is lots of support in Havering to have a healthy lifestyle.
School Nurses
The School Nursing team is made up of people of different specialities, like Support Workers and Nurses, to make sure children and young people get the best start in life.
They work with children and young people aged 5-19 in schools to support with health and wellbeing.

School entry (Reception) & Year 6 screening
Every year, children in Reception have their height and weight checked at school as part of the National Child Measurement Programme.
The information collected is used to better understand the weight of children and young people in Havering compared with the national average across the country.
It is really important that your child is involved in this programme as it helps to make sure that the government is putting the right support in place to keep children and young people healthy and prevent health issues later on in life, like diabetes and heart conditions.
If your child is involved in the programme, you will get a letter explaining what the results were and if there is any support available to help you make healthy lifestyle changes.
During the assessment, your child will also offer routine hearing and vision screening for children in Reception so you can be referred to a specialist service if you need it.
Health Care Plans for long-term conditions
If you have a long-term condition that you need to manage during the school day, your School Nurse will complete a Health Care Plan.
This plan describes your condition and how to best support you while you're at school.
