Health support for 0-5 year olds
If you have a child aged 0-5 years old, there is lots of support in Havering to have a healthy lifestyle.
Health Visitors
Health Visitors are qualified nurses of different nursing backgrounds, like midwifery, paediatric and adult nursing and more. They come together with School Nurses, Children's Centres and other professionals in the borough to give your child the best start in life.
Universal service
This programme is open to all children and families in Havering and they check in and support you with your child's development from birth to 2 years old.
Every child and family will get:
- Antenatal contact - a visit during pregnancy
- New baby visit - a visit not long after the baby is born
- 6-8 week assessment - check in for the parents and baby
- 1 year health review
- 2 year health review
- Newborn Hearing Screening Programme - all parents in England can ask to have their child's hearing checked after birth.
Universal Plus Service
This programme supports children and families that may need additional support with health or socials needs.
As part of this service, Health Visitors will work with other specialists, like speech and language therapists, to give you the best support.
